Ways to Be in Touch

  • Tell Joe what is happening on your block

A storm drain that backs up every time it rains in Holmesburg. A dark stretch of sidewalk in Rhawnhurst. A bus stop that no longer works for the people who use it. Write to Joe's team with what you are seeing, where it is, and how long it has been that way. Specific reports from residents are what turn a neighborhood complaint into something Joe can act on.

  • Ask for help with a state agency

Unemployment compensation, PennDOT paperwork, property tax and rent rebates, a license application that has stalled for months. The district office on Academy Road helps residents work through state systems that are difficult to navigate alone. There is no cost, and no question is too small to bring in.

    Call the district office
  • Invite Joe to your civic association

Town watch nights, civic association meetings, parish halls, senior buildings, and business association gatherings across the district. Send the date, the location, and what the group would like to hear about, and Joe's team will look for a way to make it work.

    Send an invitation
  • Come to an event in the district

Office hours, neighborhood meetings, and community gatherings happen across District 5 through the year. Most are open to anyone who lives here, and you do not need an appointment to stop by and introduce yourself.

  • Recognize a neighbor or an organization

The Senate can issue a citation to mark the milestones a neighborhood already knows about: a hundredth birthday, an Eagle Scout, a fiftieth anniversary, a club that has served Bustleton or Mayfair for decades. Tell Joe's team who deserves one and why, with enough notice to prepare it properly.

    Nominate someone
  • Look after your own block

Some of the most useful work in the district never reaches an office at all. Joining a town watch, checking on an older neighbor during a heat wave, showing up for a Saturday morning cleanup. That work holds a neighborhood together whether or not anyone in Harrisburg hears about it.
